Oh, hello pretty blog. I haven’t forgotten you. I’ve been blogging almost daily on my Tumblr page instead. But, I promise to start filling you up with goodness again as soon as we make some technical changes so I can blog from my iPhone. Mobile blogging seems to work for me. I can blog while waiting in the Whole Foods line, at the gym, in a boat, with a goat, in the rain, on a train, in a box, with a fox, I do love mobile blogging Sam I am.
OK ok I’m stalling. I have been nervous to make this announcement because the decision was far from easy. I even had to recruit the help of Emily, Gina, Marissa and the SW gals to help me choose a scholarship winner for the upcoming Making Things Happen Tour. The entries were overwhelmingly inspiring and there honestly wasn’t one that was “better” than another.
I sat here with tears in my eyes, as did we all, reading through them. Just know that no matter what, all of you who entered are destined for great things, regardless of if you attend MTH or not. Just your words alone, and your ability to share so much of your true selves, shows your passion and your drive. Thank you all for sharing your hearts! Amazing!
Before you watch this video, we have a very exciting announcement. Three [amazing, inspiring, generous] MTH2010 Alumni have purchased seats for us to use as additional scholarships. With all of the incredible entries, have decided to use those towards partial scholarships for several.
MTH2010 started in the spirit of paying it forward and we are just overjoyed to continue on this track! So, if you are not the main scholarship winner, don’t fear. You may be getting a phone call from us in the next 48 hours. So, check your email and check that voicemail tomorrow. We can’t wait to meet you!
Without further ado…
OK ok… some more ado. I made this montage/video thing really fast. Busy day here. I’ve never made a montage/video thing before. You have full permission to berate my montage/video thing skills. I’m awesome at jumping moguls on skis and making muffins, so it all evens out. Watch carefully. I know it moves fast, so get that espresso brewing! The scholarship announcement is somewhere in here… enjoy!

For the record, we chose the winner on an even playing field. We didn’t look at websites, videos or anything else before choosing a winner. Seeing her video after she was chosen was just the cherry on top! Congrats!! Post photos by Millie Holloman from our fun session with her in Wilmington. And the video song is from my favorite MuteMath album, Armistice. Love. That. Song.
P.S. Thank you to all who entered the FujiFilm Instax Mini giveaway from the last post. If you want to be inspired… oh my goodness! Read all of these comments. Wow! The winner, chosen at random, is Katrina! Email me to claim your prize.
P.S.S. SOOOO MUCH IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW! I’ll be speaking at WedSmith in Salt Lake City next week, launching a magazine in 19 days and speaking at Engage the week we launch. Follow along with me via Twitter and Tumblr (for now). I’ll be back to regularly scheduled LaraCasey.com programing very soon.
P.S.S.S. It’s fall. Unreal. Where did the time go!? Tell me your favorite thing about fall and a random winner will get one of the bow ties from my collection. [photo below left by Brett Arthur]
Many of these – from Southern Proper, Xoelle, The Cordial Churchman and Forage will be featured in V3. Your choice. Leave a comment below.
Pretty much teared up watching that entire video. I am so thankful for everything Making Things Happen has brought to my life, and the year isn’t over yet! Congrats to the scholarship winner! And I hope that everyone else has the chance to attend as well. I look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
P.S. my favorite part of fall is the changing of the colors. I’m in love with the wildflowers blooming on the side of the road right now and the hint of the trees turning to brilliant shades of red and orange. Fall inspires me greatly.
Congrats Caroline Joy!!
And, Lara, your video montage skills are fantastic.

Fall = Football! 🙂
the smells! crisp air and pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING!
Way to go Caroline!
What an awesome video! Caroline, huge congrats to you on winning the scholarship!
My absolute favorite thing about fall is the smells all around. Pumpkins, windy fresh air, kitchen windows open with the scent of fresh baked pie. I stock up on candles during fall because the scents are my absolute favorite. I keep them lit in my house throughout the year to remind me of my favorite season. It always reminds me of change and exciting, fresh, new things coming in the future.
Congratulations Caroline Joy! I know you will cherish this opportunity and you deserve it. Lara your video montage was amazing, is there anything you can’t do?!??!
Fall is a time of reseeding. It’s the time of year that the once gorgeous flowers drop their heads, shrivel up and die. At least that’s what we think. Their blooms leave legacies for all of us. Their seeds and stalks take root to grow more abundantly and flourish next spring! We should all follow nature and this glorious time of year to rethink, reseed and replant our minds and our goals, not die! It’s time for new growth.
Congrats to Caroline!
LOVE the video montage Laura! No way that was your first one! Hope to make it to one of these soon, sounds amazing 🙂
Fall feels like the beginning to me. The beginning of school, the beginning of the holiday season. The first time I can pull on a sweater and order a Pumpkin Spice Latte I feel an instant calm. Fires, home cooked meals, and football. Isn’t that what life is all about?!
My favorite thing about fall: it’s one season closer to Christmas! I’m still a total kid that way. 🙂
Favorite thing about fall is the feeling in the middle of my tummy when I step outside and fall seeps into my skin, ahhhh, it is my favorite…ever! Love every bit of it, and in FL, it is scarce, so gotta take advantage of every little hint of fall! 🙂
Fall is the most amazing month of the year. Probably because my birthday falls in Fall! I love the change of temperature, the falling leaves and homemade soup. I love the way it feels when you walk outside in the morning, and it feels invigorating instead of humid. I love how the sun is changing angles and shadows seem different somehow. I love football, college and pro. A perfect way to enjoy fall weather is to watch the boys of fall play a game they love. I just flat out love fall.
I’m just seeing this post now. Caught me off guard to see myself in there a couple of times. Haha! Good job on the video, girl! And sweet little video by the winner. 🙂
Favorite thing about fall… creating sweet Autumn memories with Jeromy & our little ones: just having hot chocolate together, crafting, reading fun stories under blankets. Cozy, wonderful, amazing memories!
my absolute favorite thing about fall is taking pictures of love in the leaves! in wisconsin, our fall is just gorgeous and every photo is even more beautiful because of it! 🙂
Oh how I LOVE those bow ties!!! What I love about fall is the beautiful colors of the leaves. Living in co I’m so spoiled by the amazing changing of the leaves!
My favorite part about fall is the changing weather. From hot summers in Hawaii comes cooler trade winds which just makes everything a little more enjoyable. This is when I really enjoy being outside! It’s not too hot, not too cold, but just right! BTW, those bow ties are awesome, and all though o do not own one myself, this would be the perfect beginning to my collection.
I love so many things about the fall. Football. Cider and hot chocolate. My birthday. Boots. The leaves changing.
My favorite thing about fall is pulling out my boots and scarves…and being able to layer again

My favorite thing about fall is suede boots, leather jackets, and playing in the leaves with my kids. oh! and no more glistening!
Fall is the most wonderful time of the year! From hot apple cider, to beautiful leaves changing color; I simply can’t get enough. And how can we forget football or pumpkin carving! So many wonderful reasons to celebrate the season!
My favorite part about fall is the fall baking traditions handed down through the generations in my family. I proudly carry those traditions on as a grown woman and create new ones each year.
One of my favorite things about fall is Pumpkin everything. And my husband would love a bow tie – even if it’s not one that I made.
Best thing about Fall: the smell of wood fireplaces in the cold, crisp air.
Fall has me thinking on how important it is to slow down…just as the vibrancy of summer blooms begin to fade and rest in dormancy before we will enjoy the newness of spring again, my mind and body need to wind down and rest, reflect, and renew. Bowties are awesome!
My favorite thing about fall is the Friday nights and Saturday mornings – the smells of grilling and burning leaves, the sounds of high school football, and the warm sun mixed with the cool air.
I love the changing colors.
One word: tweed.
My favorite thing about fall is the overall feeling of “winding down” as the temperatures dip and the leaves fall. It makes being close to the ones you love feel even cozier than usual!
I love imagining the fall colors up north. I’m in Florida, so we really don’t get that, but the temperatures are finally out of the 90s here!
I love fall because it’s the start of football season!
What’s not to love about fall!?! The gorgeous colors, the bite in the air, hot chocolate and apple cider…I love everything! My favorite, though, is cooler weather that allows for wearing cozy sweaters!
Without a doubt, tailgating and SEC football!
Fall makes outdoor photo shoots easy! Yellow Gingko trees are vibrant and on fire while evergreens are still holding on to their color. Great contrast, great scene.
My favorite thing about fall is being able to cuddle up next to my hunny (Thomas) to keep each other warm! I know he would LOVE one of these bow ties, and I would love to see it on him. (He would look really cute assisting me at weddings wearing one of these beauties! 😉 )
my favorite thing about fall is CAMPING! the brightest of blue skies, the most vibrant leaf colors, and the freedom of forgetting everything to be outside. heaven!
I adore fall because of football season! Nothing more enjoyable on a Saturday then a tailgate with hamburgers and sausage then watching your favorite team (mine being the AU Tigers) play a game.
Congrats Caroline! My favorite thing about fall is the weather! You can wear light sweaters and short sleeves in the same week!
Ooh, bow ties. 🙂 My favorite thing about fall is getting THE BEST apple cider from The Orchard on Signal Mountain, TN. When I drink it up here at school in Knoxville, I can take my mind off classes and remember being home for my favorite season.
My favorite thing about fall is new this year: my wedding anniversary! I’m getting married in 3 weeks and I don’t know what I could like better about this season than marrying the love of my LIFE <3
My favorite things about fall are Football & the food that comes with the fall!! Pumpkin, squash, chili….
I love apple picking at the farm in our town!
My favorite thing about fall is walking outside the first day the humidity is low, to see bright blue skies in sharp contrast with the red and yellow leaves being ruffled by a cool breeze. Add in a pumpkin spice latte, and things are pretty much perfect 🙂
The sounds of our dogs running through crispy leaves
My favorite thing about fall is Football and tailgate! Every Saturday is an outdoor party with college friends…. its wonderful!
My favorite thing about fall is when the air gets all crisp and cool and you get to bundle up with your loved one and drink hot cider (or cocoa)with your sweetheart! Not to mention all the great fall clothes…cute coats, hats, scarves and mittens! I’m in clothes heaven!
My favorite thing about fall is how much my best friend loves it. She’s obsessed with the color Orange, pumpkins, the month of October (really… she claims it is the best month of all, weirdo), and anything having to do with fall in general. It makes me think how lucky I am to have found such a great best friend.
I LOVE the excitement that is in the air! Fall to me means festivities, family, and fun!
My favorite season = Football season = FALL!
Having a clear, crisp night and being able to cuddle up outside to watch the stars and drink hot chocolate is perfect way to enjoy the fall weather!
The changing leaves, and the way the rich, textured fabrics play off of them.
Definitely my favorite thing about fall is the smell and crunch of fallen leaves underfoot.
Our yard is currently COVERED and while the Mr. wants to rake them, this Mrs. is making him wait.
My favorite thing about fall has to be the crisp weather, which makes it perfect for cute fall sweaters! I love the wardrobe shift from summer to fall, bringing out scarves, coats, sweaters, and all other adorbs clothes.
Every Saturday in fall is game day. I love game day. I wake every Saturday morning, tell Rob, my fiance, good morning (pause) today’s game day!!! I love bonding with Rob over football, reconnecting with old friends at games, and cheering my team onto victory! On a different note my favorite thing about fall is the fact that I’m getting married in the fall – it’s not too hot, not too cold and I couldn’t imagine marrying Rob at any other time.
Fall is one of the most exciting times of the year, I love the change in weather, the football games and tailgating, the excitement of wearing layers again, and the anticipation for all of the upcoming holidays!
Gorgeous bow ties! Congratulations to all the winners! My favorite thing about fall is the smell of hot baked apple pie (I’m from Washington, so it has to be the apples) and the sound of leaves crunching under your feet. Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite thing about fall… pumpkin deserts + coffee (well, that last one is pretty much year round) &, my fiance’s birthday is in fall! 🙂
My favorite thing about this fall is the Southern Weddings gorgeous V3 edition:)
To pick just one thing that I love about fall is just impossible. I love that I can still wear my tanks and camisoles under light jackets to keep the chill off. I love that the NC State Fair is under way, and I can indulge in my all-time favorite fair food…roasted corn-on-the-cob. I love that I get to pick out the perfect pumpkin to decorate for Halloween. I love this time of year because seasonal brews hit the shelf…Pumpkin Ale! Should I keep going?
The best thing about fall is pulling out the Hunter boots and spending a day walking through the apple orchard sipping cider and enjoying the colors.
